Marvel Rivals Season 9.5 launched August 7 with The Hood as a playable Vanguard hero. The midseason update also continues the Mystery of Thebes story, starts the Creed of Akabba event and reduces the game’s installed size.
The Hood joins Marvel Rivals
The Hood can switch between human and demon forms. His Vanguard kit uses pistols, dark magic, barriers and demonic weapons, while his ultimate fires projectiles through shields and gives nearby allies bonus health.
In Marvel Comics, Parker Robbins became The Hood after stealing a demon’s cloak and boots. He often leads criminal groups while trying to control the magic attached to his gear. The game’s version uses that human-demon split without promising a direct adaptation of one comic storyline.
Season 9.5 story and storage changes
The Mystery of Thebes continues with The Hood imprisoned after Gambit’s murder. Moon Knight also finds evidence that a larger mastermind may be directing the season’s events.
The finished patch reduces the installed game by about 30% on PC, 20% on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S, and 7% on PlayStation 4. The update also adds new Hood and Moon Knight lore, the Creed of Akabba event with a free Punisher costume, and rotating Captain America: The Winter Soldier and Avengers: Age of Ultron clips in Times Square through August 27.
