Doctor Doom has one universe left to break
Doctor Doom has altered one reality after another while searching for Franklin Richards. America Chavez and Kitty Pryde survive the wreckage of a shattered universe, then recruit Loki, Scarlet Witch and a combined Venom-Moon Knight for the final fight.
America's team becomes the Avengers of the Multiverse. The setup connects characters and consequences from the preceding four books rather than starting a separate adventure.
Comic context, without the homework
America Chavez is a hero who can open star-shaped portals between realities. Kitty Pryde is an X-Men member best known for phasing through solid objects; this version is carrying the Phoenix Force, a powerful cosmic presence that has passed among several Marvel characters.
Franklin Richards is the son of Fantastic Four members Reed Richards and Sue Storm, and many comic stories give him reality-altering abilities. Doom's pursuit of Franklin raises the stakes well beyond a familiar fight for Latveria.
The novel uses its own alternate-reality setup. Its twists do not establish what Marvel Studios will do with these characters on screen.
