The first two episodes of FX's The Shards are now streaming on Hulu. The drama premiered August 5 with its pilot and second episode available together.

Ryan Murphy executive produces the series, which adapts Bret Easton Ellis' novel. The story begins in Los Angeles during the summer of 1981, when a string of disturbing crimes coincides with the arrival of a mysterious new student.

The Shards cast and story

Igby Rigney plays a fictionalized teenage Bret Easton Ellis, an aspiring writer whose life starts to unravel after Robert Mallory transfers to his elite prep school. Homer Gere plays Robert, while Kaia Gerber, Hayes Warner and Graham Campbell round out Bret's close circle as Susan Reynolds, Debbie Schaffer and Thom Wright.

The students move through parties, jealousy and secrets while a killer known as The Trawler targets teenagers across Los Angeles. Evan Rachel Wood, Wes Bentley and Jordan Roth also star as adults tied to the group.

The Shards carries a TV-MA rating. New viewers can start with both premiere episodes on Hulu.
