Disney has greenlit Hidden Heroes: A Descendants Story for Disney Channel and Disney+. Production on the music-and-dance movie begins the week of August 10.
The story takes place at Sidekick Academy, a secret training school for the children of Disney's best-known helpers. A pair of villains threatens the realm, leaving a new class of sidekicks to prove they can handle more than support duty.
Children of Genie, Yzma and more join the cast
Dior Goodjohn plays Jennie, the daughter of Genie, while Momona Tamada plays Zara, the daughter of Yzma. Jacob Rodriguez is Kronk Jr. Eva Fossaceca Smedley plays Meri, the daughter of Merryweather, and Harry Jones is Lou, the son of Lumiere.
Rhys Dawkins, Connor Wong and Kyra Wong complete the announced student cast as siblings from the Potts family. Disney has not announced a premiere date.

A new branch of the Descendants family tree
The Descendants series began in 2015 with the teenage children of Disney villains. Hidden Heroes shifts the family tree toward sidekicks whose parents helped characters such as Aladdin, Snow White, Belle and Sleeping Beauty.
Jude Weng directs the movie. Tamara Chestna, Eydie Faye and Emma Fletcher wrote the screenplay.
