Universal Studios Hollywood will install two additional sound barriers near Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift, ABC7 Los Angeles reported Tuesday. The work is expected in early September.
Los Angeles City Councilmember Adrin Nazarian announced the plan after meeting with Universal and Toluca Lake residents who have reported noise during the coaster's technical rehearsals. Universal confirmed the additional barriers to ABC7 and said it will keep monitoring sound.
Nazarian said independent testing found the coaster met applicable sound requirements. The new barriers are an added mitigation step while technical rehearsals continue, and public access can still pause without notice.
Universal has not announced a grand-opening date. Its official attraction page continues to direct guests to check the park app for current testing availability.
