Fast & Furious: Hollywood Drift is running technical rehearsals while Universal Studios Hollywood reviews sound levels from the new outdoor coaster.
Toluca Lake residents told ABC7 Los Angeles that rider screams continue to carry across Lakeside Golf Club and into nearby homes. One resident said the sound can be heard late at night with his doors closed.
Universal said the rehearsals are testing the attraction under varied operating conditions. The park is monitoring sound levels and checking that the coaster operates in compliance.
Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger said county officials are engaging with the people involved, reviewing the facts and encouraging a solution that respects nearby communities.
The complaints follow FOX 11 Los Angeles' July 17 report about sound walls, a gravel track bed and vehicle programming intended to direct riders away from the neighborhood during louder sections. Universal later disputed the report's late-2026 opening claim and told Nexstar reporter Scott Gustin that an opening date would be announced soon.
Employee previews began June 29. Universal has not announced a public opening date, and its attraction page still lists summer 2026. Guests planning a fall trip should wait for a date from Universal before counting on the coaster.
