Former Disney CEO Bob Chapek's memoir, Behind the Castle Walls: My Thirty Years at the Happiest Place on Earth, will be published by Gallery Books on September 29, 2026.

The book recounts Chapek's career at Disney, which began in 1993, and his two years as chief executive from 2020 through 2022, according to Publishers Lunch. The cover credits sportswriter Don Yaeger alongside Chapek.

Three decades inside Disney

Chapek led Disney's home entertainment, consumer products and parks businesses before becoming CEO in February 2020. His tenure began as the company closed parks, delayed theatrical releases and shifted more attention toward streaming during the pandemic.

Disney's board removed Chapek in November 2022 and brought Bob Iger back as chief executive. The memoir is presented as Chapek's account of his time inside the company. Readers will have to wait until September to see how much detail he gives the handoff.
