Disney will install a plaque honoring Marvel artist and writer Jack Kirby at the entrance to Avengers Campus in Disney California Adventure.
Kirby's Plaque Will Stand Beside Stan Lee's
The plaque will be placed beside the existing Stan Lee memorial. Disney announced the addition during the “On Your Left! Super Hero Projects on the Move” panel at D23.
Its inscription includes a line from Kirby: “No matter what kind of character you create or assume, a little of yourself must remain there.” Disney did not give an installation date.
Jack Kirby Helped Build Marvel's Superhero Universe
Kirby co-created many characters now represented across Avengers Campus, including the Fantastic Four, the X-Men, the Hulk, Thor and Black Panther. His densely packed “Kirby dots” became a visual shorthand for cosmic energy in comics and later superhero art.
Avengers Campus is also expanding with Avengers: Infinity Defense and Stark Flight Lab, both scheduled to open in 2028.
