LION is now streaming on Disney+ and Hulu, with all episodes available as part of the August 20 premiere. The series follows a lion cub named Kio as he grows into the role his pride will demand.
Kio’s four-year story follows a lion cub toward adulthood
Filmed over four years, LION tracks Kio through the hazards, rivalries and small victories of early life on the savanna. The finished series focuses on the full coming-of-age arc rather than a single expedition or a one-day wildlife encounter.
Jon Favreau and BBC Studios lead the natural-history series
Jon Favreau, director of The Lion King (2019), is part of the series team with BBC Studios executive producer Mike Gunton. The Disney+ and Hulu release pairs cinematic storytelling with the practical work of following a young lion across changing seasons.
