DreamWorks Sets September 25 Theatrical Release for Forgotten Island

DreamWorks Animation's new fantasy film follows two lifelong friends who find a portal to a mythic island.

DreamWorks Animation's Forgotten Island will open in theaters September 25. The studio's official account posted the date August 23. The film is a new original story from the team behind Puss in Boots: The Last Wish.

Forgotten Island Follows Jo and Raissa to Nakali

Jo and Raissa are lifelong friends spending their last night together before leaving for separate paths after high school. A mysterious portal sends them to Nakali, a fantastical island filled with creatures from stories they heard from their Filipino families.

The friends discover that returning home means giving up the memories of their friendship. They must find a way past the Dreaded Manananggal before they forget each other.

H.E.R. and Liza Soberano Lead the Voice Cast

H.E.R. voices Jo and Liza Soberano voices Raissa. Dave Franco, Jenny Slate, Manny Jacinto, Dolly de Leon, Jo Koy, Ronny Chieng and Lea Salonga also appear in the voice cast.

Joel Crawford and Januel Mercado write and direct the film, while Mark Swift produces. The three previously worked together on Puss in Boots: The Last Wish. Universal Pictures is distributing the film.
