Disneyland Resort's Aug. 27 event brought senior programs, a school field day and a Main Street on Your Street celebration to Anaheim residents. The resort published an event recap on Aug. 28.
Over 3,000 Anaheim residents joined the Center Greens Park gathering. The day followed a month of Disney VoluntEARS visits that the resort said reached over 2,000 residents at community centers and local events.
Disney VoluntEARS Started With a Month of Anaheim Treat Stops
Disney VoluntEARS visited locations including Oak Canyon Nature Center and the YMCA Sports Complex before Aug. 27. The stops served children at summer camp and families at community events with bubble wands, Mickey Mouse plush and Minnie Mouse ears.
125 Seniors Celebrated at Ponderosa Family Resource Center
Over 125 seniors began Aug. 27 with yoga led by instructors from Tenaya Stone Spa at Disney's Grand Californian Hotel & Spa. The celebration also included Goofy, Disney Bingo, crafts, photos, music and treats.
Disneyland Resort also supplied four libraries and two other senior communities with materials for their own Disney celebrations.
Danbrook Elementary Students Took Part in a Disney Field Day
Disney VoluntEARS welcomed over 400 students from seven grade levels to four themed areas at Danbrook Elementary School. The activities included a Toontown Dance-Stravaganza, Pixar Pier Relay Rally and New Orleans Square Swashbuckling Soiree.
Students received Mickey ears and Mickey crispy treats. Disneyland Resort gave each of the school's 75 staff members a ticket for themselves and a guest.
Center Greens Park Hosted Main Street on Your Street
The evening gathering at Center Greens Park brought elements of Disneyland park's Main Street, U.S.A., to Anaheim residents. Mary Poppins and the Pearly Band performed, and the Disneyland Resort Fire Engine joined carnival games, crafts, Mickey balloons and photo backdrops.
Complimentary hot dogs, popcorn, cotton candy and Mickey's Premium Ice Cream Bars were served. Miguel from Coco, Mirabel from Encanto, Mickey and other characters appeared during the event.
Disneyland Resort did not announce another date for The Happiest Day in Anaheim in its Aug. 28 recap.
