Disney+ has greenlit Mad Love (working title), a six-episode Hulu Original romantic comedy-drama from playwright Kate Cortesi about a British wedding planner in the Italian countryside.
Kate Cortesi created and wrote the six-episode series
The announced format is six episodes running 45 minutes each. Cortesi is creating and writing the series for Disney+ EMEA.
Maddy Caruso leaves London for the Italian countryside
Maddy Caruso has built a strong reputation organizing weddings for demanding clients in Italy. Her personal life is less settled. After doing something unforgivable with the first man she had feelings for in London, Maddy leaves for Italy and cuts ties with her sister and best friend, Evie. The story begins when her past catches up with her new life.
Element Pictures and Sinestra are producing the series
Element Pictures, a Fremantle company known for Normal People, is producing Mad Love with Sinestra. The executive producers include Cortesi, Christopher Aird, Chelsea Morgan Hoffmann, Ed Guiney and Andrew Lowe for Element Pictures; Michael Parets and Johan Renck for Sinestra; and Hilary Martin for Fremantle.
Disney+ has not announced a cast or premiere date
The greenlight announcement does not include a cast, filming schedule or release date. Disney+ has also kept the title provisional with the “W/T” working-title label.
