Walt Disney World has changed how guests ship merchandise home. The new process uses a bag-based rate instead of charging by the total value of the items, according to a September 1 on-site report from WDW News Today.
Ricoh is handling the new merchandise-shipping service. Guests choose a bag, place their purchases inside, scan a QR code to complete the form and payment, then return the tagged bag to a participating location. A confirmation email with tracking information follows after the Ricoh Merchandise Shipping Center processes the package.
Four Standard Bag Sizes
The standard bags are priced by size. The reported colors and descriptions are:
Custom, international and overweight shipments use a clear bag. Shipments over 50 pounds are considered overweight. The reported policy also lists insurance coverage up to $100 at no extra charge, with additional insurance charges beginning at $5 as the declared value increases. The maximum listed coverage is $5,000.
Where to Ask About Shipping
Guests can ask a Cast Member at a gift shop for the participating locations and current shipping instructions. WDW News Today also reported a dedicated shipping station in the back of Marketplace Co-Op at Disney Springs. Walt Disney World’s mail-services page separately covers pre-packed packages at resort hotel front desks and concierge desks.
