By the end of fiscal 2025, more than 99% of guest-facing, non-essential single-use plastics had been eliminated on Disney Cruise Line ships and island destinations, according to Disney Experiences.
The changes show up in routine guest interactions: reusable shopping bags in merchandise locations, paper-based Castaway Club packaging, refillable bath-product dispensers in staterooms and reusable serviceware at the line's Bahamian island destinations.
Reusable bags replace nearly 1 million plastic bags each year
Merchandise teams have moved to reusable shopping bags, avoiding nearly 1 million plastic bags annually.
Castaway Club packaging switched to paper
Castaway Club loyalty gifts are now distributed in paper-based packaging instead of traditional plastic sleeves. The change has removed more than 3 million plastic sleeves from operations since 2024, a cumulative figure rather than an annual count.
Refillable dispensers reduce stateroom amenity containers
Refillable bath-product dispensers in every stateroom eliminate the distribution of more than 2.2 million plastic amenity containers each year.
Bahamian islands use reusable dining serviceware
Disney Lookout Cay at Lighthouse Point operates without guest-facing single-use plastics, using reusable dishware, flatware and cups for meals. The same service items have been introduced at Castaway Cay.
The 99% figure covers guest-facing, non-essential single-use plastics and is measured as of the end of fiscal 2025. It does not mean every plastic item or every waste stream on the ships and islands has been eliminated.
