Star Wars Reads is back for October with Ahmed Best as the campaign’s official ambassador. Best, known for playing Jar Jar Binks and Jedi Master Kelleran Beq, will meet with students and readers in the Greater New York area throughout the month.

Disney Publishing and the children’s literacy nonprofit First Book will help provide 500 eligible educators with a Star Wars Reads Educator Toolkit and a $100 gift certificate for books from the First Book Marketplace.

Penguin Random House Children’s Books will also donate books to First Book. The campaign includes classroom resources, activity kits and book donations for under-resourced communities.

Best is scheduled to join a Lucasfilm Publishing panel and signing at New York Comic Con on October 9 at 11 a.m. Later that day, Forbidden Planet NYC will host Best and several Star Wars authors for a public signing from 6 to 8 p.m.
