Sterlin Harjo Says Familiar Characters Let The Lowdown Season 2 Lean Harder Into Comedy

With Lee Raybon and Tulsa already established, creator Sterlin Harjo says Season 2 can move faster and lean harder into humor.

The Lowdown has more room for comedy in Season 2 because viewers already know Lee Raybon and the Tulsa world around him, creator Sterlin Harjo says.

In an interview with The Hollywood Reporter, Harjo explained that the foundation built in the first season let the writers move faster this time. They could spend less time establishing Lee and lean further into the humor threaded through his increasingly dangerous investigations.

Harjo directed both episodes in the Season 2 premiere and wrote the first one. The opening chapters put Ethan Hawke’s Lee in the middle of a new case while his estranged father, played by Tommy Lee Jones, arrives in Tulsa.

Season 2 began October 14 with two episodes on FX, Hulu and Hulu on Disney+ for bundle subscribers. Our premiere report has the cast and release details, and Disney+ has the official Season 2 overview.
