Alexandra’s completed Make-A-Wish safari in Africa brought her close to wildlife and conservation work as she plans a career as a wildlife biologist.

Her wish was granted on a National Geographic Journey with G Adventures. Along the way, she learned from local guides and conservationists and watched animals in their natural habitat.

One stop became the trip’s standout moment. Alexandra said elephants gathered at a watering hole for about 30 minutes, playing in the water, splashing and rolling in mud.

The experience gave her a close look at the work she hopes to pursue. Alexandra plans to study environmental science and biology in college, conduct field research that can inform wildlife policy, and later pursue a doctorate.
