Jon Watts and Christopher Ford developed an untitled eight-episode Star Wars western for Disney+, according to original reporting by Caleb Williams at Knight Edge Media. The project’s current status is unclear.

According to Williams, a full writers’ room began work in January and continued through August. Watts and Ford conceived the project as a western, following the way their earlier series, Star Wars: Skeleton Crew, approached the franchise as a pirate adventure.

Lucasfilm did not comment on the report. Whether the series was placed on hold or canceled remains unclear.

StarWars.com identifies Watts and Ford as the co-creators of Skeleton Crew.
