Ruaridh Mollica says the nose scrunch he gives Tommy in VisionQuest was a coincidence, rather than a planned reference to Wanda Maximoff.
In an interview with Taylor Gates for Collider, Mollica was asked about viewers comparing the expression with Elizabeth Olsen’s performance as Wanda. “The nose scrunch was totally just a coincidence,” he said.
Mollica added that years of watching Olsen in the Avengers films and WandaVision may have influenced him subconsciously. He did not describe the gesture as a deliberate Easter egg.
Mollica plays Thomas Shepherd, the 18-year-old Tommy in VisionQuest. The series is streaming on Disney+.
