AniDom released a 29-second stop-motion Simpsons opening Friday that turns Springfield into Halloween Town for this year’s Treehouse of Horror.
The sequence gives Bart a Jack Skellington makeover, turns Marge into Sally and casts Homer as the two-faced Mayor. Ned Flanders gets the least neighborly role of the bunch: Oogie Boogie.
Entertainment Weekly, which premiered the segment, reports that the team behind Robot Chicken at Stoopid Buddy Stoodios created it. Animation World Network’s interviews with the filmmakers detail a roughly three-month production using hand-sculpted puppets and cardboard sets.
The opening belongs to Treehouse of Horror XXXVII, scheduled for Sunday, Oct. 25, at 8 p.m. ET/PT on FOX and the next day on Hulu.
