Disneyland Paris has revealed how Walt Disney Imagineering Paris and French lighting specialists built Disney Wonders’ two character chandeliers. Together, the pair display more than 40 illustrations of Disney characters.

Imagineering worked with Maelis, the contemporary lighting division of Manufacture de France. Maelis brought in local specialist workshops for photographic printing, engraving and lighting integration.

Prototypes and technical trials focused on recreating the Pixie Dust effect designed for the shop. The finished chandeliers mix illuminated cubes with character sketches and finished artwork on panels suspended at different heights.

Corinne and Frédéric Colombo lead Manufacture de France, a family-owned decorative-lighting company with roots dating to 1939. Its workshops are near Toulouse.

Disney Wonders opened September 22 at Disney Village. The October 27 production account identifies the makers and methods behind the chandeliers.
