Disney beverage manager Dan Laske says the Espresso Martini Milkshake took about 10 rounds of testing before the recipe reached its final form.

Laske started developing the idea while working at World Premiere Food Court at Disney’s All-Star Movies Resort. Coffee and ice cream were already part of the operation, and he began looking for a way to bring the two flavors together.

After pitching the drink, Laske worked with Disney World’s Food and Beverage Concept team on ingredients and preparation. He also asked frontline cast members whether the milkshake could be made consistently during daily service.

Each version was documented and refined. Laske said some tests changed an ingredient by only half an ounce before the team settled on the finished recipe. Disney’s account does not give a current location, price or alcohol content for the drink.
