Walt Disney Animation Studios is actively producing a new special set in the world of The Princess and the Frog, with new songs and the original cast returning, chief creative officer Jared Bush told Collider.
Bush described the project as “a full story with a lot of songs” during an interview with Collider’s Steve Weintraub at the SCAD Savannah Film Festival. He said it will feel like a special rather than a collection of shorts.
Disney has not announced a release date or identified which cast members are returning. Bush said the project is in active production and will reach audiences soon, without giving more specific timing.
The special returns to the world of Disney Animation’s 2009 film, which introduced Tiana and Prince Naveen in a musical story set in New Orleans.
