Disneyland Resort remains open Sunday, May 24, while the Garden Grove chemical emergency continues about five miles from the resort.
The resort is outside the evacuation zone, and Disney reported no direct impact on park operations. Road closures, detours, or traffic delays around west Orange County may still affect some travelers.
The incident began May 21 at GKN Aerospace, 12122 Western Ave. in Garden Grove. Evacuation orders have affected parts of Garden Grove, Anaheim, Buena Park, Cypress, Stanton, and Westminster during the response.
Orange County Fire Authority and local agencies remain the primary sources for public-safety instructions. Travelers heading through the area should check current road guidance before driving near Garden Grove or west Anaheim.
California declared an Orange County state of emergency Saturday, one day after evacuation orders reached Anaheim streets west of the resort area.
Update: California mobilized more than 785 emergency personnel for the Garden Grove response Sunday, including three hazmat teams, air-monitoring staff, law enforcement, firefighters, and transportation crews. Governor Gavin Newsom also requested a federal emergency declaration for Orange County. Disneyland Resort's posted operations update still says the resort is open and outside the evacuation zone.
