King Arthur Carrousel will close for refurbishment at Disneyland Park on Monday, July 6, after one final operating day during the Fourth of July weekend.
The Fantasyland carousel is scheduled to run Saturday, July 5, including a late-night block after the evening entertainment break. The closure is scheduled for at least July 6 and July 7.
Disney has not posted a reopening date yet. For guests visiting that week, the closure takes one of Fantasyland's original 1955 rides out of the mix.
King Arthur Carrousel Refurbishment Details
King Arthur Carrousel opened with Disneyland in 1955 and remains one of Fantasyland's central opening-day attractions. The ride has 68 carved horses under its medieval tent, with Sleeping Beauty scenes around the inner rounding board.
The carousel has a direct link to Walt Disney's original park idea. Disney has long tied the attraction to the Griffith Park merry-go-round visits where Walt watched his daughters ride and thought about a place families could enjoy together.
