Disney's Animal Kingdom Early Entry is simpler than the other Walt Disney World parks, but it is easier to waste than people expect. The park opens early, the ride count is tight, and the first bad walk can chew through the whole hotel-guest head start.
Early Theme Park Entry currently gives eligible Disney Resort hotel and select hotel guests 30 minutes before regular park opening. The current Animal Kingdom Early Entry list includes Avatar Flight of Passage, Expedition Everest - Legend of the Forbidden Mountain, Na'vi River Journey, and Zootopia: Better Zoogether!. Kilimanjaro Safaris is not on that list.
The Animal Kingdom Early Entry answer
Start with Flight of Passage if your group wants the biggest wait-time payoff and everyone meets the 44-inch height requirement. CrowdLevels 90-day hourly data had Flight of Passage averaging 49.6 minutes in the 7 a.m. hour, then 78.0 minutes at 8 a.m. and 76.1 minutes at 9 a.m. It is the one Animal Kingdom ride where the head start can change the whole morning.
Start with Na'vi River Journey if your group wants Pandora without the height requirement or motion-sickness risk. It averaged 10.0 minutes in the 7 a.m. hour, 23.1 at 8 a.m., and 41.6 at 9 a.m. The ride is gentle, close to Flight of Passage, and much easier with little kids who do not need a banshee flight before breakfast.
Start with Everest if your group wants thrill rides and does not want to join the Pandora crowd. Everest averaged 4.2 minutes in the 7 a.m. hour and 9.3 at 8 a.m., then jumped to 26.5 at 9 a.m. It is the cleaner physical start for groups that are willing to skip Pandora's first wave.
Do not plan Safari as the Early Entry first ride. Kilimanjaro Safaris is not on the current Early Entry list, and CrowdLevels did not show 7 a.m. operating wait samples in the 90-day hourly pull. Use it after regular open, when it averaged 28.4 minutes at 8 a.m. and 45.2 at 9 a.m.
Data note: CrowdLevels pulled Animal Kingdom current rows, 90-day hourly waits, 7-day downtime leaders, 30-day Lightning Lane sellout rankings, and 90-day downtime events on June 5, 2026. The hourly numbers use operating wait samples only.
Flight of Passage is the big swing
Avatar Flight of Passage is still the Animal Kingdom rope-drop gravity well. If you are staying at a Disney hotel, arrive early enough to be near the front, and have a group that can move, this is the first ride that makes the wake-up call worth it.
The numbers back that up. CrowdLevels had Flight of Passage at a 69.8-minute 180-day overall average in the attraction profile, and the 90-day hourly pull showed a sharp early climb: 49.6 minutes at 7 a.m., 78.0 at 8 a.m., and 85.5 at 10 a.m. That is the kind of ride where a slow bag check or late bus can cost real time.
The practical warning is real. Flight of Passage has a 44-inch height requirement, a simulator setup, and a queue that feels much longer when the group already knows someone is not riding. Rider switch can help, but it is not a magic eraser for a tight 30-minute window.
Na'vi is the gentler Pandora start
Na'vi River Journey is the better first ride when your group wants Pandora but not Flight of Passage. No height requirement. No big simulator. No family split right away.
CrowdLevels had Na'vi at 10.0 minutes in the 7 a.m. hour, 23.1 at 8 a.m., 41.6 at 9 a.m., and 52.1 at 10 a.m. That is a good Early Entry use for families with younger kids because the wait gets noticeably worse once the full park crowd reaches Pandora.
Lightning Lane data also makes Na'vi worth protecting. In the 30-day CrowdLevels dashboard window from May 6 through June 4, Na'vi had actionable sustained sellouts on 16 of 30 tracked days, with a 1:26 p.m. average actionable sellout. You can usually avoid making it your first Lightning Lane if you ride it early.
Everest is the low-drama thrill route
Expedition Everest is the anti-Pandora plan. It is not the biggest wait savings on paper, but it can be the best fit for repeat visitors, thrill groups, and people who would rather start moving than stand inside the Flight of Passage crowd.
The hourly data is friendly early: 4.2 minutes at 7 a.m., 9.3 at 8 a.m., 26.5 at 9 a.m., and 36.8 at 10 a.m. If your group likes coasters, Everest can give you a completed ride quickly, then put you in position for Safari after regular open.
The warning is reliability. Everest ranked second on the 7-day Animal Kingdom downtime board, with 7 hours 5 minutes across 5 days from May 30 through June 5. The 90-day downtime endpoint showed 42 downtime events and 2,286.8 total downtime minutes. If Everest is delayed when you arrive, do not wait around Asia hoping your whole morning fixes itself.
Safari belongs after regular open
Kilimanjaro Safaris is one of the best Animal Kingdom morning rides. It just is not the Early Entry first ride under the current list. Treat it as the regular-open follow-up, especially if your group starts at Everest or Na'vi.
The 90-day CrowdLevels hourly pull had Safari averaging 28.4 minutes at 8 a.m., 45.2 at 9 a.m., 56.0 at 10 a.m., and 56.8 at 11 a.m. That makes the 8 a.m. hour useful if you can reach Africa cleanly after your first Early Entry target.
Safari also has one of the cleaner recent reliability pictures in this group. The 90-day downtime endpoint showed 35.0 total downtime minutes across 6 events. That is a nice change from the stress rides, but the line still grows fast once everyone remembers the animals are awake and the sun is still tolerable.
Zootopia is useful, but not the first target
Zootopia: Better Zoogether! is on the current Early Entry list, and it can be useful for families that want a seated show-style start. It is not where the biggest wait savings live.
CrowdLevels had Zootopia at 9.0 minutes in the 7 a.m. hour, 10.3 at 8 a.m., and 11.3 at 9 a.m. The bigger warning is downtime. Zootopia led the recent 7-day Animal Kingdom downtime board with 8 hours 31 minutes across 3 days from May 30 through June 5.
Use it when it fits the group, not because you think Early Entry will vanish without it. If you are already near Discovery Island after skipping Pandora, fine. If the group got up early to save real wait time, pick Flight of Passage, Na'vi, or Everest first.
Three usable Animal Kingdom morning plans
The Pandora payoff: Flight of Passage first, then Na'vi if the posted wait is still sane. If Na'vi already looks rough, keep moving and use Safari as the next useful target after regular open.
The family Pandora plan: Na'vi first, then Safari after regular open. This avoids the height requirement problem and still uses the morning before Africa fills in.
The low-drama thrill plan: Everest first, then Safari. Add Kali River Rapids later when you actually want to be wet. Kali averaged only 7.7 minutes at 9 a.m. in the 90-day pull, but most groups do not need soaked shoes before lunch.
