Universal Kids Resort says more shade is coming to the new Frisco, Texas park after families raised heat and shade concerns during its first week of summer operations.
WFAA reported July 8 that some families visiting Universal Kids Resort were concerned about limited shade during high summer heat. Universal told the station it is listening to guest feedback and will add landscaping and additional shade elements throughout the resort over time.
The park opened July 1 with seven lands, outdoor attractions, indoor experiences, splash pads, restaurants, shows, and merchandise locations. The resort is built for families with young children, so shade, stroller breaks, and short cooling stops matter on hot North Texas afternoons.

Universal Kids Resort opened in Frisco on July 1 with Shrek's Swamp, Puss in Boots Del Mar, Minions vs. Minions: Bello Bay Club, Jurassic World Adventure Camp, TrollsFest, SpongeBob SquarePants Bikini Bottom, and Isle of Curiosity.
The 300-room Universal Kids Resort Hotel sits at the park entrance. Universal is selling dated tickets, hotel packages, and annual passes for the new Texas resort.
For current summer visits, the heat issue is most visible between indoor pauses, splash areas, meal breaks, and shows. The added landscaping and shade elements will matter most on the concrete-heavy stretches between those stops.
