The movable scanners at the Discovering Dinosaurs fossil wall have been removed from Jurassic Park Discovery Center at Universal Islands of Adventure.
The scanners were mounted on vertical poles and moved across the wall. Guests could position them over fossils to identify different dinosaur species. A July 27 on-site report from WDW News Today shows the poles and scanners gone.
The Discovery Center remains open
The removal affects one element inside the building. Universal's Discovery Center page still lists the attraction as open during park hours.
Other activities remain listed, including Test Your DNA, You Bet Jurassic, the dinosaur egg nursery and the central T. rex fossil display. Universal has not posted a reason for the scanner removal or announced a replacement.
Another hands-on feature is gone
The scanners are the latest hands-on element removed from the Discovery Center. WDW News Today also noted that the Beasaur periscope, which let guests look through a dinosaur's eyes and move its head, has been absent since the COVID-19 pandemic.
The building sits in Jurassic Park between the park's central lagoon and the Jurassic Park River Adventure area. Guests can continue to enter the Discovery Center without joining a ride queue.
