Walt Disney World drivers will move onto a newly built section of Floridian Way on August 10. The traffic shift is the next major step in the World Drive North Phase III project near Magic Kingdom.
Central Florida Tourism Oversight District Administrator Stephanie Kopelousos announced the date during the district's July 24 board meeting. BlogMickey reported the meeting details after attending in person.
Traffic will use the new southbound lanes
Both directions of guest traffic will temporarily use the new southbound lanes between the Magic Kingdom parking lot and the Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa entrance. That shift clears the existing roadway for northbound-lane construction.
Two of the project's three roundabouts are already in place. Crews will build the final roundabout near the Magic Kingdom parking lot after traffic moves to the temporary alignment.
- Disney's Grand Floridian Resort & Spa will keep access through a temporary connector driveway.
- Island Tower at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort will use another temporary connector.
- The Grand Floridian wedding pavilion will remain reachable through its own temporary driveway.
Drivers should follow the posted signs through the construction zone. The August 10 configuration is temporary, and the district's current schedule carries the broader project into late 2027.
World Drive North adds three roundabouts
District project records cover a rebuilt Floridian Way, a World Drive extension and three roundabouts between Magic Kingdom and the resort corridor.
The work has already changed local driving routes. Seven Seas Drive stopped connecting through to Floridian Way on July 13, sending drivers for the main Polynesian campus and Island Tower toward different approaches.
