Six Flags Over Texas will hold a special 65th anniversary celebration at 10:50 a.m. Wednesday, August 5. DJ Sprinkles and Looney Tunes characters are scheduled to perform.
The gathering falls on the date the Arlington park opened to the public in 1961. It was the first park in the Six Flags chain, decades before the name spread beyond Texas.

Join us this Wednesday, August 5 @ 10:50 AM for a day of family fun and memories - celebrating 65 years of the original #SixFlags park that started it all!#SixFlagsOverTexas #DFW #Arlington #Anniversary pic.twitter.com/P9EMQNkqJO
The anniversary year so far
The celebration is one piece of a season built around the park's history. Tormenta Rampaging Run opened July 9 as the signature anniversary attraction, bringing a 309-foot giga dive coaster to the new Rancho de la Tormenta area.
The park is also selling engraved commemorative bricks starting at $125. They are planned for a spot near the Silver Star Carousel in Star Mall, with an installation ceremony later this year.
A 65th Anniversary Museum is still listed as coming later in the season on Smith Street near JB's Smokehouse. Six Flags says it will display park history and memorabilia.
What guests should know
The listing gives the 10:50 a.m. start time but does not name a stage or meeting point. Guests heading to the celebration should check the Six Flags app or anniversary listing before arriving for any location or schedule update.
