Complete Guide to Universal Orlando Single Rider Lines 2026: Rides, Height Rules and Wait Patterns

Universal's Single Rider option can change by attraction and by day. Here are the official rules, the five rides in the latest operating-day feed, Gringotts' separate official label, and the wait patterns that help decide when to split.

Single Rider lets guests who are willing to ride apart from friends or family fill open seats. Availability is limited to select attractions, can change without notice, and does not remove height or rider-safety rules.

This guide covers Universal Studios Florida and Islands of Adventure. The Aug. 10 operating-day CrowdLevels feed flagged MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, Revenge of the Mummy, Doctor Doom's Fearfall, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster. Treat that list as a dated planning signal, not a permanent promise from the park.

The current ride signals

The posted waits below come from the Aug. 10, 2026 CrowdLevels feed at about 2:21 p.m. EDT. The standby column uses average posted waits from the latest 90-day attraction profiles, rounded to one decimal minute. It is context for deciding whether to split up, not a forecast of the Single Rider queue.

AttractionParkMinimum heightPosted wait90-day standby avg.
MEN IN BLACK Alien AttackUniversal Studios Florida42 in.35 min.18.8 min.
Revenge of the MummyUniversal Studios Florida48 in.40 min.32.0 min.
Doctor Doom's FearfallIslands of Adventure52 in.5 min.15.8 min.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden JourneyIslands of Adventure48 in.25 min.20.6 min.
The Incredible Hulk CoasterIslands of Adventure54 in.15 min.24.4 min.

Universal's rides FAQ and interactive map set the rule at select attractions. The official pages for Harry Potter and the Escape from Gringotts and Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey carry a “Single Rider Available” label. The Aug. 10 CrowdLevels feed did not flag Gringotts, so the entrance sign wins when the labels differ.

The line trades a shared ride for flexibility

  • Expect to splitYour party may enter the queue together, but the ride fills open seats. Plan to board with other guests and leave the attraction separately.
  • Take the assigned seatSingle Rider is for filling gaps, so immediate boarding, seat choice, and a specific ride position are not guaranteed.
  • Meet every ride ruleThe Single Rider queue does not change the minimum height, restraint, or other rider-safety requirements.
  • Check before walking overAvailability can pause or close. Ask a Team Member or check current park information before rerouting your day.

If everyone wants the ride and nobody needs a particular seat, Single Rider can turn a long wait into a useful split. If the shared reveal or vehicle role matters, keep the group together.

Universal Studios Florida

AttractionHeightHigher average hourWhy it can work
MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack42 in.3 p.m. / 27.2 min.A repeat-friendly target when your group is comfortable taking separate blaster cars.
Revenge of the Mummy48 in.4 p.m. / 38.0 min.The strongest standby profile among the five feed rides, making a split more useful when the afternoon line builds.

Revenge of the Mummy has the clearest case for a Single Rider decision when its standby line is climbing. Its 90-day standby average was 32.0 minutes, compared with 18.8 minutes for MEN IN BLACK. MIB fits the group that wants a quick rematch and does not need to compare scores from the same vehicle.

Islands of Adventure

AttractionHeightHigher average hour90-day standby avg.
Doctor Doom's Fearfall52 in.11 a.m. / 25.7 min.15.8 min.
Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey48 in.Noon / 28.4 min.20.6 min.
The Incredible Hulk Coaster54 in.11 a.m. / 41.3 min.24.4 min.

All three Islands of Adventure profiles were highest around late morning, with Hulk carrying the largest recurring pressure window. Doctor Doom is often the easiest casual add when it is open, but a five-minute posted wait is already a good reason to stay together. A short line does not need a strategy meeting.

Forbidden Journey is the most useful split when the queue is long and everyone has already seen the castle and preshow. For a first trip through Hogwarts, the group may prefer the shared buildup even if the Single Rider entrance is open.

Use Single Rider for repeat rides and late-day gaps

The queue earns its keep when the regular line has length and everyone can accept separate vehicles. When the posted standby wait is short, staying together usually costs less than giving up the shared ride.

Choose Single Rider when...Use standby instead when...
Everyone meets the height rule and wants a repeat. This is someone's first ride or first visit to the preshow.
The posted wait is long enough to make flexibility valuable. The standby line is already short.
Nobody needs a particular seat, car, or role.Your party wants to ride in the same vehicle and compare the experience.
You are filling a late-day gap before leaving the park.A child needs to remain with a specific adult or the group wants one shared finish.

The feed is a useful signal, not a guarantee. Watch the posted wait and the entrance queue together. Single Rider can be paused while standby keeps moving, and a ride can change its operating plan during the day.

Single Rider is only one way to cut a wait

OptionBest fitMain tradeoff
StandbyA first ride, a shared vehicle, or a short posted wait.Everyone waits through the same queue.
Single RiderEligible repeat riders who accept separate vehicles. No promise of a particular seat or immediate boarding.
Child SwapAdults taking turns while a child stays with a supervising adult. The group still needs a handoff plan and the child does not ride that attraction.
Universal ExpressGroups that want to keep riding together across eligible attractions.Access and price depend on the current park product and restrictions.

Single Rider helps with an open seat. Child Swap helps with a non-rider. Express helps preserve the group. Choosing the right lane depends on who is actually riding.

Universal Orlando Single Rider questions

Which Universal Orlando rides currently have Single Rider?

The Aug. 10 operating-day CrowdLevels feed flagged MEN IN BLACK Alien Attack, Revenge of the Mummy, Doctor Doom's Fearfall, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, and The Incredible Hulk Coaster. Universal currently labels select attractions for Single Rider, and on-site availability can change, so check the entrance before joining.

Can friends use the Single Rider line and sit together?

They can ask about entering the designated queue together, but Universal fills open seats and separates the party. Friends should plan to ride with other guests.

Do Single Riders still need to meet height requirements?

Yes. The current gates in this guide are 42 inches for MEN IN BLACK, 48 inches for Mummy and Forbidden Journey, 52 inches for Doctor Doom, and 54 inches for Hulk. Other rider-safety rules still apply.

The official Gringotts attraction details carry the label “Single Rider Available.” The Aug. 10 CrowdLevels feed did not flag that line, so confirm the status at the entrance rather than assuming it will be operating.
