Disney Games crossed $4 billion in consumer spend during the company's most recent fiscal year, up from an estimated annual average of $3.5 billion across the prior four years. The figures were released Thursday as part of an update on the company's game strategy.
The portfolio includes nine franchises that have each grossed more than $1 billion at retail. Kingdom Hearts and Marvel Strike Force are among them, and more than half of those billion-dollar franchises emerged during the last 12 years.


Disney and Pixar mobile games pass 1 billion installs
Disney and Pixar mobile games have passed 1 billion installs since 2014. That group includes Disney Solitaire, Disney Tsum Tsum and Disney Magic Kingdoms.
Two upcoming Marvel releases are Marvel Tōkon: Fighting Souls and Marvel's Wolverine, which is scheduled for September. Marvel Rivals has reached 40 million players worldwide, with 60% of its players under age 24.
Disney keeps building its Epic Games project
The Epic Games partnership is one of Disney's largest interactive investments. The companies are developing a persistent universe intended to bring Disney characters, stories, play and creator tools into one connected space. Thursday's update did not include a launch date.
